train boston

so i guess i should post about the train show. in step by step actions. ha ha.. not really. that would take too long.

anyway... so i'm not really a boston driver just to let everyone know... and i have a horrible sense of direction. BUT i finally made it to the paradise after about an hour and a half of either traffic or lost-ness.

so i parked and i called tom and then mitchy and saw what they were up to. tom was still at his house and mitchy was on 84 in connecticut. but it was so nice to talk to them. i obviously favor one more than the other... but it was good to touch base with both of them.

i'm waiting in line... mind you.... the doors are suppose to be at 630... BUT sometime at like 720 they decided to open the bad boys and let us in. while i was waiting in line by myself... i happened to glance in bonniy's direction as she was glancing in mine... so i cut about 50 people in line and stood with her. go me!!!

bonniy... is the coolest chic. i love that girl. she's just so open and honest and sweet. you wouldn't think so, cause she's close to the band... has their cell numbers, etc. but she is just so full of energy and very friendly. so... she just plain out rocks. her friend i didn't care for too much... but oh well.... you'll see as this post goes on how things panned out.

so we're finally in the paradise. i totally miss that place... but they DID indeed paint over the murals in the walk way. which i'm kinda bummed about... cause it was decently artistic and now all that's up are promotion posters. we got right up front on the left... right where rob from train stands. not that he's the main attraction, but the guitarist from five for fighting was... and that's where he stands.

five for fighting, i must say, was half way decent. the lead singer kinda reminds me of pat, the lead singer from train. but i felt weird cause i was up close with them and didn't know one single word of their songs. but um... that kinda happened with jump... even though i know about 5 words in cathedrals. oh well... they put on a decent show, though. i look forward to seeing them tonight.

so after five for fighting i decide to look around for people that i should be meeting up with... colleen, tom, kim, steve, and of course... mitchy. and bonniy also wanted a cup of ice. so i'm looking and looking for people... when who did i see??? my mitchy... MY MITCHY. and i was thinking to myself... that's my mitchy. and i was just way too happy so i was like snapping for his attention and waving my hand in the air trying to get his attention while i tried to push through the 5 or so people that separated us. after getting several unwanted scowls towards me....i finally was standing right with him and his girlfriend, janna. we hugged hello and immediately started talking like we've known each other for ages. he's the nicest guy in the world. and it was just incredible to finally meet him. sometimes i felt like long lost twins with him, cause we get along online so well. so i talked to him and janna for like 10 or 15 mins in the middle of major traffic... right behind the pole and mitchy was like... "that is the worst thing about the paradise... that damn pole" and i said... "i agree... along with probably everyone else here" so they decided to move to another space and i still needed to get ice for bonniy. and when i'm walking to the bar... i hear matt behind me say "hey... move it shortie" hee hee.... but he's like 6'4" so he can say that to me.

i'm walking back with the ice and my beer and i see christine, bonniy's friend, all in a tizzy. so i ask what's wrong and she's all "bonniy hates me, we just got into a big fight" so i get back to my spot after dumping half the ice on some chic's jeans cause someone hit my arm. and bonniy's just like "christine and i got into a huge fight... you missed it" i guess christine has been hanging out with the opening bands and completely ditching bonniy for train's entire set. and bonniy couldn't save both spots by herself... so christine just decided to leave. no idea where she went, but she didn't show for train's entire set. last tour she totally ditched bonniy in the middle of it... took a plane back to portland and left bonniy there by herself. kinda scary. i wonder if she just went back to the hotel this time.

so train finally came on. i enjoyed every waking minute of it... but i couldn't give you a set list if i tried. they played a lot from the last album and half from the new and two covers... zepplin's "ramble on" and aerosmith's "last child" or is it lost child? i can never remember. they did pretty good jobs. AND pat remembered the words to aerosmith. last time at the paradise, he screwed up in the middle and had to start all over again. but he got his little cheat sheet out this time. :) it was wicked cute... there was a part he was reading it off the sheet singing it. it was funny. i wish they played getaway and sweet rain. but i'm going to hartford tonight and lupo's in a couple weeks... so hopefully i'll hear one of them there. they do a new version of eggplant now. and i'm not sure if i like it. i mean, i do, but i also liked the simplicity of the original. so who knows. and of course mr. drunk guy was like 4 people away from me screaming "train fuckin' rocks" during "hopeless" which is one of those songs where you feel like you're tainting it if you speak during it. or at least i feel that way. so i wasn't too happy with that guy. actually they played a lot of songs from drops.. she's on fire, i wish you would, drops of jupiter, it's about you, hopeless, respect, let it roll, something more, and mississippi. but i guess since i wanted to hear getaway it seems like not all the songs were played. and off of their self titled, they played...meet virginia, i am, if you leave, homesick, free, eggplant, days, and heavy. so they played like 19 songs including the two covers. the time seemed to go by so quick. i guess that's when you know you're at a good show... when you don't even realize that time's gone, that your feet are killing you, that your back hurts, that the person behind you is actually on top of you.... you don't notice anything... cause you're there for the music.

music is an incredible thing. i was thinking about it at the show when i was grooving on. and i was just like... i went to a concert by myself.. to meet up with bonniy... who lives in oregon who travels with the band.. not with them... but follows them... and the main reason why we're there and how we became friends is music. and just seeing everyones head nodding up and down... it's just awesome.

i'm gonna nap before i go to hartford. if i missed anything, i'll write it at the beginning of the hartford post.
